Thomas Hrcek 1925-1977 / Huronia Pottery

*******************************************************************************************

Thomas Hrcek was born March 7, 1925, to Adolph and Anna Hrcek in what was then Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to Canada from Buffalo, New York, on August 27, 1945, with his mother Anna. Immigration documents are unclear whether his father accompanied them or remained in Buffalo.

Mr. Hrcek first worked at Blue Mountain Pottery and then started Huronia Pottery in Meaford, Ontario. He was married to a nurse named Eileen. Huronia Pottery closed before Mr. Hrcek's death in 1977. He is buried in a cemetery on Lundy's Lane (site of a famous battle during the War of 1812), Niagara Falls, Ontario.
